When you have to get up early to be at work by 9 a.m., staying up past 10 p.m. is not usually a good idea if you want to be well rested.
I know this struggle well. I wake up at 6 a.m. Monday through Friday, so unfortunately I know longer get to experience life after 10 p.m.
It’s not too bad, but there are a few things I miss about late-night life. Here are a few:
#1 Late-Night Talk Shows
During college, I used to get scared while I was alone in my apartment late at night and up studying, so I would leave the late-night talk show hosts on in the background to keep me company. These days I rarely catch the late-night boys like Letterman and Kimmel, but they will always hold a special place in my heart.
#2 Vamping on Facebook
I used to loveeeee to stay up late on Facebook like a Vampire (hence “vamping”) for no reason other than to stalk randos and have a conversation with some dude who was in my eighth grade reading class.
#3 Binging on Netflix
It always gets good right when the clock strikes 10 p.m.
#4 Weeknight Concerts
Is it me, or do all the good bands come to town on weeknights? I mean I get it, Fall Out Boy can’t be everywhere at once on a Saturday, but it still stinks. That being said, when my favorite band comes to town on a Friday or Saturday night I get so so excited.
#5 Thirsty Thursday
There was once a time where you could go to the club, get a drink for $1-3 and not have to worry about getting up the next morning, even though it was still a weekday. Ahhh Thirsty Thursday, the Friday night of the collegiate world. Too bad on actual Friday nights I’m too tired to keep my eyes open to do anything these days.
#6 Eating Twinkies In The Pantry At Midnight
Twinkies are at their best in the middle of the night, at a 3-month level of staleness.
#7 Talking or whatever with your special someone till 4 a.m.
No go, as you gotta be well rested for work!
#8 Wine Wednesday
Technically you can do this earlier in the night, but everyone knows the real fun comes after 10 p.m. when the FCC rules become a little more lax and TV becomes a little more fun 😉
#9 Socializing online when a new episode of your favorite TV show comes on
— IBBB (@ibbb) September 11, 2014
Sorry these are all about TV, but I just like TV… a lot. And you know, there’s something about socializing with people on Twitter when a new episode of Teen Mom comes on that really adds to the experience. I also like it when other people validate my feelings when one of the Moms does something crazy.
#10 Late-night Chatroulette Parties
When your real life friends were annoying, you could always find one, two, three or more new friends on Chattroulette!
Did I miss something? Tell me in the comments!
