Sometimes you just want to smell like a naughty elf and Katy Perry’s latest fragrance, Killer Queen, can help you do that. It’s sweet and fruity, but with a little bit of woodiness to it. It’s sugar, spice and everything nice. Perfect for this holiday season!
Personally, I don’t like fragrances that are too overpowering or have that “old lady” smell to them. I know Katy Perry is a big fan of vintage fashion, but this fragrance does not smell like your grandma. And trust me, I would not lie to you. I know I am a big fan of Katy Perry, but that does not mean I would advise you to smell like her if this scent smelled like the inside of a Talbot’s (no disrespect to Talbot’s, I’m sure I’ll be shopping there one day myself).
But this fragrance, quite literally, smells like a field of flowers that you want to roll around in on a crisp fall day.
With notes of wild berry, red velvet flower and natural patchouli heart, Killer Queen definitely has a sweetness to it, but the tiny bit of woodiness tons it down a bit.
Also, can we talk about the bottle for a second? It is a very unique shape for a perfume bottle – it is shaped like a jewel!
The only thing that may be annoying to some is that the bottle doesn’t stand up on its own. It lays on its side (like a real crystal!). I happen to like it because it is different and acts as a nice decoration on my end table.
And finally the name! The fragrance is named Killer Queen after the song of the same name by the band Queen. The late lead singer, Freddie Mercury, had a profound influence on Katy and she named it after him. What a great story and so much better than something generic like “Beautiful” or “Sexy.”
The Eau de Parfum of Killer Queen is available in three sizes: 1 oz., 1.7 oz., and 3.4 oz. They are priced at $39, $49 and $59. A rollerball and body lotion is also available. You can purchase Killer Queen wherever fragrances are sold including Ulta, Sephora, Macy’s, Belk, Boscov’s, Lord & Taylor, Bon Ton, STAGE and Nordstrom.
